The comment glitch turned out to be a Spam Karma incompatibility. It's fixed with a small addition to the SK plugins. Great stuff. Now I'll get to test if it really works. Other than the comment stuff, I don't think I've stumbled across other bugs.

Jafer, all you need is <a href="http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html" rel="nofollow">XAMPP</a> and yer laughin' :) It installs an Apache server (at least one sort of server), MySQL and PHP interpreter (or whatever). You only need to create a database, put the user information for wp-config.php, put all files in XAMPP folder and run install. Just like you do in your web domain. XAMPP includes phpMyAdmin so it's all very familiar (I'd think).

<blockquote>And now that you say that, and after reading some of the support questions….. I think I’ll wait</blockquote>
I could've waited too I guess, but I'm a sucker for new gadgets, and new WP versions. I don't really care if something goes bonkers -- it doesn't scare me the least, thanks to all kinds of coding over the years and lots of things going bonkers a lot of the time. And I'm determined to get that article finished soon so I had to try this out.

I haven't played with anything on a local computer - I don't have php installed on mine.

I notice there are some odd glitches but they might just be because of my nutty installation. For instance, the number of comments doesn't change (like now, there was 2 comments and it just says 'No commens' BUT shows the image for new comments.

Vera, I wasn't actually having trouble with the Intro box, I was sneaking another box beside it (you just didn't see it, I did :P). But after checking the layout on 800x600 I decided to get rid of the Intro box altogether. So, now there's only the new feature: latest post from Amadeus's blog :)

Jafer, maybe you should wait a while. Let them squeeze out a 2.0.0.0.0.0.0.1 or something :) Have you tried playing with a WP installation on local computer? It's quite handy (having a local installation I mean).
