Wandering virus

:: Friday, Jan 5th 2007 @ 23:05 :: Computer & Gadgets, Spur of the Moment, Work ::

You’d better protect yourself — by locking your computer when you leave the keyboard for even a second. If you don’t, a nasty computer virus may walk by and select you as its next victim.

Nasty computer virus

(It says “Hahaa!!! Your computer’s been infected by a virus!!! You’re a dead man!!!”)

That’s not my screen, though; I always lock my computer.

    Is that a prank? lol, looks like someone just typed it up in Word :roll:.

    Yes, I was wondering that myself - is it a joke that someone put on someone else’s computer?

    Yeah, it’s a prank. We are urged to lock our computers at work every time we leave the desk but one in our tech team always forgets it, so our boss sneaked by and wrote that in Word — to teach a lesson. And you know, it worked. As you may have noticed, people do a lot of pranks at our office.

    Very subtle. I’d like to pass around the take-a-screenshot-of-your-desktop-and-disable-your-icons ‘virus’ whenever someone doesn’t lock their PC, but then I’d never get any work done.

    We make such a deal about passwords (tons of sensitive financial data), but then they log in and walk away all day. :mad:
